Poppy Seed Pastry
Soft and fluffy pastry with a sweet poppy seed filling. This is a popular treat in Eastern Europe. Poppy seeds are a symbol of wealth with the seeds representing individual coins.
These are very popular around Christmas time but there’s no rule against eating them year-round! They are delicious with a cup of tea or coffee.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour, Poppy seed mix (30%), (Poppy seed, Sugar, Margarine, Rape seed oil, water, salt), Water, Raisins, Bakalie (Fruits and vegetables in varying proportions: Zucchini (Carbon Residue Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Raisin, Carrot, Cherry, Gooseberry, Orange Peel (Residual Sulphur Dioxide (SO2)); Glucose-Fructose Syrup; Acidity Regulator; Citric Acid, Perservative – Potassium Sorbate Flavour. Dyes – Brilliant Blue, Ponceau 4R, Sunset Yellow, Quinoline Yellow) Eggs, Margarine (Rapeseed oil, water, salt), Water, sugar, Topping(sugar, glucose syrup, water, preservative: Potassium sorbate, acidity regulator: Citric acid, emulsifier: Mono and diglycerides of fatty acids), Baker’s yeast, salt.
